reason for long running concurrent request

Hi Experts,
  Daily in our environment  " PRC: Update Project Performance Data" program runs for 3 hours. but today it run for 6 hours.

  It started at 4am.   we checked at 9am for locks and found none.  It completed at 10:00Am.


  what may be the reason?

 can we find the locks before 9am?

Please help.
