Setting up Security on ODBC for IBM iSeries

Hi everyone,

First time posting in the community.  My apologies if this should be in a different community/category (admins feel free to move this as needed).

I recently got a request from management to give some contractors/users read-only access to our JDE 8.0 DB (IBM DB2 on IBM iSeries 5.3) thru ODBC (they'll be using MS Access to view records).  I've gotten everything to work, except limiting their access to read-only.

I'm guessing there are also multiple places security could be setup (DB security vs ODBC security?).  Does anyone know the advantages/disadvantages of using the different options?  Has someone else have this same setup and could help point me in the right direction?

Howdy, Stranger!
