Can I create custom index on customer tables for performance improvement

Hi,

We receive our customers from Siebel and Mainframe and store the source system reference for the customer and address in DFFs in HZ_CUST_ACCOUNTS and HZ_CUST_ACCT_SITES_ALL. Is it advisable to define indexes on the attribute columns to improve performance?
