Step to convert Single-Instance ASM to RAC on 11.1.0.7

 Hi All,
    One of our customer request some information to convert existing Single-instance (with ASM) to Oracle RAC (with ASM)  (2 nodes RAC)
    This is production environment, and they want to build a new node, after that convert/join existing single-instance to become 2 node RAC environment.

     Oracle current version: 11.1.0.7.0
     Platform : HP-UX B.11.31 U ia64  

    Actually we're suggested them to build 2 new machines and install from scratch more easier and clean, but customer would like to compare convert existing single-instance to RAC approach.
    I don't have any experience to convert single instance to RAC,  thus need some suggestion/experience sharing from all of you.
