Charge Periodic functionality

Hi,
Has anyone used the Charge Periodic functionality to invoice the customers periodically i.e recurring invoice - Quarterly/Yearly etc..How does OM pass the values to AR. Any tips/notes greatly appreciated.
We have requirement to invoice customers on Quartely / Yearly basis.
