OS level clustering on 11g Database Impact and clarifications

Hi,

We have OEL 5.5 and 2 node cluster,We are also running ORacle 11g database on the PROD setup.

We have setup Cluster for HA(Data protection) .We have SAN configured and shared the storage to be made visible on the 2 nodes.

1)I wanted to understand how exactly the replication is done and what impact it might have on the database.

Eg: If the current active PROD server crashes,the current live sessions are lost,I understand that the "data files" physcially will get replicated on the second server but for transactions which are still in memory...i guess is lost in case of a crash?
