Hi - In some cases the business requests an advance to be paid by the customer before an order can be placed. E.g. 30% of order value on sales order, 50% on shipment and 20% on acceptance. It is also important the transaction is aged accordingly. So we use the payment terms against the sales order 30,50,20 and this will create an invoice with 3 installments and aged accordingly.
I created a deposit for £30,000.00
Created a sales order £100,000.00 with a payment term 30,50,20 and referenced the deposit number above. This will create a receivable invoice when the order is interfaced to AR with 3 installment lines:
