R12 Drilldown 'View Transaction' opens a new instance

When drilling down to subledger details (eg. going to an AR transaction from GL) , clicking on 'View Transaction' opens a new instance of R12 instead of opening sub ledger detail in the already open instance. Is this standard functionality?
