Short Tax Years

 Hello we are currently on R11i and have the following issue:

 

 When assets are acquired it takes several months before asset data is scrubbed and ready to be loaded into the system.  By the time assets ready to be loaded we are several months past the acquisition month and need to load assets with a tax short year.  We backdate the assets, however the short year functionality can only be utilized when assets are placed in service the same month it is acquired – has this functionality been modified?  If not what is a valid work-around?
