This document reviews the values that are entered in the Chg Type (Change Type) and P/C Rel (Parent/Component Relationship) fields on the ECO Parts List Entry form.  These define the changes and determine how the Engineering Change Population program updates the BOM (bill of material) for items.  Here is an  excerpt from Note 626087.1 E1: 30: P3013/P30131 Setup and Use of ECO Parts List and Related Items:
Functionality
The Enter/Change ECO application (R48020) does not update any files, but stores proposed changes in the Parts List Detail table (F3013).  The actual updates to the Item Master P4101, Item Branch Plant (P4102), and Bills of Material (BOM) (P3002) are performed by the ECO Change Population UBE, R30510.  Updates to the Item Master and Branch Plant will not occur if the Engineering Change Population processing options are not set to update those files with the corresponding information.
