Extremely slow performance monitoring EBS systems with OEM12c R2 + PSU / Performance Patches

Anyone using 12c to monitor 12.1.3 ebs systems with large amounts of datafiles? It's so slow its almost useless on our environments - was there anything you did to optimize the experience? I've got an SR open with oracle but 28 hours later still no response so I thought I would ping the community to see what others have done to make the product actually useable.

It appears there is at least one really poor query that builds up some data about the datafiles and SGA sizing that takes forever to run before the screens are populated with data - doesn't run so bad on small systems but on our 12.1.3 environments with lots of datafiles / activity its terrible..
