Error on Accounting Setup Manager

R12.1.3

I am trying to work through the accounting setup manager.  I have clicked to enable average Balances and have entered my net income account which is set up as an asset in the flexfield values.  When I click on Next, I am getting an error that the net income account must be a balance sheet account.  Please help with what i am missing here.
