Dear Oracle community,
when using the recommended out-of-place installation upgrade method I have to use a new Oracle home to install Oracle v11.2.0.3.0. But what about the SID? I am facing error

INS-35075 The specified SID is already in use

during the installation. I am Oracle beginner. So, what shall I do to maintain the original SID of my old, running Oracle v11.2.0.1.0 installation in order to prevent my enterprise application from failing after activating the new Oracle instance and deactivating the old Oracle instance. My application uses

- DBS service name
- DBS ODBC connection

Currently I am not sure if the application uses internally a hard coded SID somehow.
