SQL Developer Internal Generator Future State

Hello:

 I found an entry on OTN where someone mentioned that in future versions of SQL Developer, the internal DDL generator is being phased out. I was wondering if anyone else had heard the same thing? We have some users who do not have select_catalog_role and if this is going to be phased out, it's something we need to plan to add as our software versions are upgraded.
