need a mount point of 1TB for backups

Hi,

   We are planning to create a mount point for RMAN backups of 1TB.
   We already tried mounting NFS filesystems, which are remote, they are very slow.
   What other options do I have to create a mount point of 1TB for RMAN backup job.
   I am an Oracle DBA and we don't have a dedicated Linux system admin to go.
   I really appreciate if you could advise some options or point me to the documentation.
