How to change the category of item?

Dear Experts,
Is it possible to use one item with two categories?

i-e Item Paint Category 1 is Renovation and Category 2 is Hardware.

If we purchase this item with category 2 and store it in the inventory and after that when we issue that same item it can be issued with category 2?
