Able to approve standard PO with references document as BPA whose lines was closed ?

 Hi Team,

System is not preventing or any pop up message and buyer is able to approve the Standard PO with  source document as Blanket Purchase agreement whose line is closed.

Than  suggestion from my colleague I put expiration date for the line which was closed in  the BPA than system not allowed to create PO.

But wanted to know is this the standard functionality.Do we need to give expiration date for the all the closed lines manually in the BPA or any profile option is there which suffice the requirement.
