Duplicate VG name

We currently mirror a LUN from our SAN environment to 2 servers. What I want to do is break the mirror, mount the drive on the secondary server and pull data from it. Once the data is pulled I would unmount the drive then re-mirror.

What I'm running into is a duplicate VG name. Once the LUN is presented, multipath puts the drive in a volume group that already exists on the system. I then get an error that the existing VG takes presidence.

I believe a previous admin ran into this issue and either solved it without my knowlege, or more likely abandoned it. I am seeing errors when I try to rename or move the volume that it can't find the PV. At this point I just want to untangle what is currenlty the issue, then go back and figure out how to solve my original task.

Howdy, Stranger!
