EXPORT ESTIMATE VS ESTIMATE ONLY

I am a new user to Standard Edition 11.2.0.3.0.  I can understand the value of running export with estimate only to know if you have enough disk space for the dump files.  What is the reason for using just ESTIMATE.  Will the export be bypassed if there is not enough disk space based on the estimate?
