Out of the box portal facility in Tools 9.1.2.0

HI,
We are planning to upgrade from 8.98.x tools to 9.1.2.0 tools. As far as my understanding tools 9.1.2 given an out of the box facility to configure portal. We do not need to bring up an extra portal server for the same.

If I am right, then please can anybody tell me how to do it. And If I am wrong please let me know how I am wrong and let me know the portal steps and guides for tools 9.1.2.0.
