Cloning an Oracle Database 10g R2

Hello.
I want to clone an oracle database 10g R2 (I have to create a copy of an existint database to the same server) on Windows Operating System.

To this day, I dont know if the database is configured to use ASM.

Do you know of any official ORACLE manual for doing this exactly?

I have never done this so if somebody wants to help with feedback about the process (recommendations, what to do, what not to do) please feel free to post it.
