setting up smtp server on xscf console

I would like to set up an smtp server on a live Oracle M4000 server and everything is set up except from email reporting of faults.

If I do this, would it need a reboot of the whole server to pick up the new smtp settings or would it pick up the setting straight away?

Also, has anyone ever had any issues with setting smtp up or has it worked without causing any problems?
