'I' (Internet) Modules in e-Business Suite

 Hi All,This is a doubt regarding 'i' modules in Oracle Applications. I had come across that these modules could be accessed from any web browser and mobile applications. 

Now let us consider a module such as Sourcing which is a self service application but does not have 'i'  attached to it. Does that mean though this is a self service  application we will not be able to open this on mobile hand sets?

Also can anyone let us know why exactly is called 'i' modules?
