Changing Quote Status from System Delivered Status to Status Customer would like to see.

My customer wants me to change the default quote status on the Quote status from Quote Submitted when the order is placed to won. My feeling is that by doing this I will create issues in the supporting tables since the status that defaults is no longer the status expected by Oracle. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could make this happen?
