The "Close Date" on the Opportunity Page Defaults to Today's Date

CRM OD Experts,

The <Close Date> field on the Opportunity page defaults to today's date and would like to get that changed.

Is it possible to just have have the <Close Date> field blank to where a Sales Rep would have to enter it in?  Keeping in mind the calendar is there for them to select a date?  I don't see where I can make this field blank.
