Hi Mark/Gurus

My apologies for starting a new thread in an old one, must have been hard to find. I am aware they are different concepts. Rman and data pump, and I get how perhaps the export/import utility will be good in a tier environment. My problem is my APEX and Discoverer teams each have seperate schemas one significntly larger than the other. In a senario where I need a restore of an entire schema because somebody inadvertedly did something or whatever the reason maybe, I will not have a schema backup but only a database backup.

What if a discoverer user accidentally deletes a crucial table in the schema, why do I have to restore the entire database when I can just restore the schema. Or lets say an Apex users has a similar accident, all I will have to do if I have those schema backups is to restore the schema and not the entire database. It don't matter much to me how I get the backups, I only used the export utility because I wanted to estimate the amount of space each schema is going to cover and I also wanted to compress those

Howdy, Stranger!
