Reading ASM LUNS on another server without ASM instance/CRS installation

We have a RAC 6-nodes which consists of Oracle 10gR2 (10.2.0.4) CRS, database with ASM, there are 2- main databases with a very volume transaction warehouse and generating a huge volume of redo/archive logs.

In order to replicate data using IBM Infosphere CDC from the Oracle setup described above to  IBM’s Netezza Appliance the architecture suggested by IBM is to have the LUNS used by ASM be available on another server  where  IBM CDC software is installed.  The LUNS are presented on this IBM CDC server without having a RAC setup or an ASM instance running. The IBM CDC then reads the data from the LUNS on that server which we are not sure how the software is reading.
