Using Parameters in RTF Template- BI Publisher

Hi,
I have created a Data Model with 5 parameters which are not in Data set query parameters.
I want to use these data model parameters in my RTF template to show in report output.
I tried <?param: param_name?> syntax but no luck.
Could you please provide me any other syntax tobe used for the same.
