Point-In-Time Employee Master R060116D/P060116D

Hi, I'm just trying out the point-in-time employee master program in our testing environment (now that we have some historical data after being on enterprise one for a year). This definitely seems like a helpful program, however, I'm a little confused about how the P060116D does in the process.

In the HCM guide, it describes running R060116D to populate/delete from the F0601161 (point-in-time EE master) table. I can see that happening when I run it in my test environment so I'm good there. Where I need some clarity is on the P060116D. This is the program used to view the data built by R060116D. But the HCM guide also talks about seeting up processing options for this program (through fast path to IV) where you instruct it to either:
