Canadian Taxable Benefits New for 2013

Effective January 2, 2013 employer paid premiums for Group AD&D and Group Critical Illness (CI) are now taxable benefits to employees in Alberta Canada.

I set up PDBAs for both of these as a "B" for benefit and the setup is similar to the TB Income for group life insurance, except that I was provided with the amount of the premium the Company pays for each employee, so the made the method of calculation a flat dollar amount ($ instead of %).  I put those given amounts on the employees DBA instructions in F06106 in the appropriate DBA.

In my testing, the Canadian payroll supervisor thought the additional taxes that were taken for these two taxable benefits were too high.  Does anyone else out there have this situation in Canada who can provide me any guidance or hints?  We are now three checks behind for this tax; about to be 4 checks behind if I don't figure it out before Friday.  Their payroll runs again on Monday.

Howdy, Stranger!
