Parent-Child Credit Checking

We have not leveraged the parent-child functionality to its fullest extent in E1 9.0, but we want to do so.

I have read E1: 42: Credit Checking (P4210/P42101/R42542/P43070/R42550) - Note 625508.1 - which was modified in August 2012, and the example given in the "Using Parent-Child Credit Checking" section looks like good functionality.

I then saw Bug 14303100 : CREDIT CHECKING NOT WORKING AT PARENT LEVEL, which seems to have a similar example as the Knowledge Document.  This bug has been closed in October 2012 as "not feasible to fix".

Could someone please clarify what is (and is not) working regarding Parent-Child Credit Checking?
