Upgrep long running on S_EVT_ACT table

We are currently upgrading from 8.1.1.3 SEA to 8.1.1.9 SIA.  I am in the process of running the UPGREP on DEV and it is taking forever to process the S_EVT_ACT table, averaging about 1/2 hour for each column it is "modifying".  The UPGREP is on the step Prepare for table creation SEA.  I am weary at this point to kill the process and start over as I do not know the exact workaround to make this process go faster.  Would rebuilding indexes on this table allow the process to go faster?
