Task UI - Apply View Mode to Siebel Query Operation Step?

I've developed my first task. This task uses a few Account-based applets to perform various operations on accounts. In the first step, I am receiving the [Account Id] from a Business Service and afterwards place the Account BC on the appropriate record using the "Siebel Operation" step with "Query" method.

That's where the problem starts - very often, the record is not found.

During my research I found out that the task will only find records from "My Accounts", meaning that no View Mode can be passed to the Siebel Operation Query step. A Change Request for this "feature" (I would rather call it basic functionality) has been created 2007, but rejected. The suggestion on MOS is to copy Account BC and remove the View Mode. Since I would not want to create a copy of Account BC just to remove one property, I thought I'd ask here how others solve this issue? Did anyone come across this?
