Retained Earning restore

our client has problem with retained earning account. There is RE amount in year 2012 that should be in General Ledger January 2013. Then he did reclass journal with journal manual but setting account for RE is N (Non Posting account). He change to blank so allow account to be posting. Then he post journal to RE account. After that he want to change post code to default (N - Non posting account) but show error:
(invalid change: CAUSE...The change you are attempting is invalid. Accounts with balances in the F0911 table cannot have Posting Edit Code of "N".
RESOLUTION...Use Posting Edit Code = "I" (Inactive Account) instead.
