How can I maintain item cost individually per lot or per serial?

I have created multiple cost groups and I would like to provide a different cost group per item lot or per item serial whereby I am able to maintain individual costs per different item lot or serial. I have tried creating rules in wms for this purpose however it didn't work out. Is there a way that this could be done whether from the wms rules or from any other module?
