How often should we reboot our Oracle Windows database server?

We are new to Oracle Database Standard Edition 11g 11.2.0.3.0 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Server 6.1 Service Pack 1 (64-bit).  I am told by our Windows Admins that we regularly reboot our Windows servers and was aked for a procedure to do this for the Oracle server.  My questions are:

1) Is it really necessary to reboot the server on a regular basis or should it only be done when required (problem, maintenance, etc..).

2) If we decide to reboot (restart the server) will the Database be shut down and restarted automatically as part of the process in a safe way, or do we need to perform the database shutdown and start up manually using commands..

Howdy, Stranger!
