alter system archive log current hangs in a RAC database

Hello,

I have a RAC database with 3 instances version: Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production

Suddenly a script that makes an “alter system archive log current;” in every instance (one after other) hangs. (We execute it as part of a BCV script).

Executing the instruction in the prompt of sqlplus, I have notice that when the instruction hangs in one instance, executing the instruction in the others release it but if you wait until it finished by itself, you can wait forever.

The only clue in the alert log is messages like this:

ARCH: Evaluating archive   log 6 thread 2 sequence 1155752
