error when use yum for installation pkg

Hi all,
   I use yum to install packages needed for oracle installation but I meet problem.

   yum install gcc...

   --> Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: rhel-x86_64-server-5. Please verify its path and try again.

  My Linux: Red hat enterprise linux 5.8

  Please give me some advises about it. Thanks so much.
