split a mirror in update 7?

What version of solaris (or zfs) did the split option for a mirror become available on solaris 10? We used it successfully on one of our update 10 solaris systems but we also have update 7 (unpatched pretty much) systems. The split optiion doesn't appear in the man page so I'm suspecting it may not be available?  Is there some other way to "break" a set of concatenated mirrors and keep the data intact on the disks that are no longer in use?
