sparc t5220 dimm fault, some questions

Hi, on ilom interface of our sparc t5220 we have 2 dimm components in fault state. I read the document on how to replace them and the section about memory on Sun System Handbook, but I have a couple of questions:
1-is it posiible that the problem is on the slot, not on the ram? is there any test to do to be sure?
2- on Sun System Handbook, it is written to have same Sun part number for all FBDIMMs in a branch: it is a suggestion or it's mandatory?
