Extract Hang

 Due to some reasons, our server on which extract was running was crashed. After server restored, i started the extract back again. I see there was almost 12 hours data which needs to be  captured by extract. I  have seen extract RBA was not moving for almost 50 min's and then later on i saw it came back to normal way. During that time  can we assume that extract was hanged ? How to deal such situations , if it prolong for long time ?
