Divide by zero support

In the RPAS configuration guide 13.3.1 on the last page, it says to take advantage of the "division by zero support" of the calc engine instead of using "prefer" in the expression. It seems that this functionality has been around for a while. Does anybody know how far back this functionality supported by the RPAS calc engine?
