WAIT workflow and trigger email.

I need some help with a email notification workflow with WAIT.
We have a CO called Contracts with a custom date field called Next Renewal date & an integer field called # of days for reminder.
When a user creates a record he usually fills out the date. (May not happen always and the date may be flled out later i.e. when record is modified) and the # of days ahead of the expiry that he want an email reminder.

1. I need a validation such that if you fill out the date you also need to fill out the number field and vice-versa.
