Dates not getting modified in shipment

Hi,

 In OTM5.5, we plan a order to a shipment having a future date say April 14,2013. If an order update message comes with a date modification having the new dates as April 08,2013 (considering today, which is again a future date), why the shipment dates are not getting modified? 
But if the order update is coming with the greater date (say April 16,2013) then the dates gets reflected in the shipment.
(Shipment Status in all the cases is SECURE_RESOURCES NOT_STARTED and ENROUTE NOT_STARTED)
Please advice?
