FRM-40212: Invalid value for field FM_SERIAL_NUMBER

 While creating a receipt for a particular item we are getting the following error 
FRM-40212: Invalid value for field FM_SERIAL_NUMBER

This is a serial control item, need help or any suggestion to resolve the issue.
