Workflow Notification Mailer should be configured with POP3 protocol so that PO documents can be ap

Hi ,
We would like to use email approvals where in we are planning to approve a PO or any other document through PDA or email instead of logging into the applications.
We are not using IMAP protocol to be configured in the workflow notification mailer.
We wanted to use POP3 protocol ,Is it supported.
If yes how to configure.

I got a doc id 944802 , which says "Workflow Notification Mailer only supports IMAP as the protocol for the Inbound Processing "
So if the above note talks about IMAP then how can i configure POP3.

Please suggest.

We are on R12.1.3.
