how can we distinguish when to install BI publisher (enterprise or trial) or a BI Publisher Desktop

Hi,
I have installed BI publisher with my standalone 9.0 with  BI Publisher Desktop Application Plug-in and this helped me to make changes to BI report template.

I want to know what additional functionality or its better to install BI trial with standalone or it is just the same.
