Meter reading

Hi,

 My current meter reading is 1500HRS, now when i entering my new reading which is 1600HRS system is adding 1500+1600=3100 but if i add 100HRS to 1500HRS i will get 1600HRS but i dont want that. Is there a way to resolve this issue? what i am trying to say is that can we change the meter rule?
