LOT control option is enabled to an item, wherein the item already has onhand quantity

Hi Guru's,
I am facing a strange situation, user has enabled LOT control option to item code which has huge onhand quantity exists for which no lots are generated earlier(i.e earlier the item does not have LOT option enabled and due to this items are procured into the inventory without generating LOTS).

Now whenever user tries to perform any miscellaneous issue, LOT button is enabled, and since no LOT are generated earlier. User not able to perform Misc Issues.

Kindly suggest.
