Why it was advised in 11i Concurrent Processing should run on DB Node

Hi Gurus,
Just curious to know why it was recommended in 11i to run the Concurrent Processing to run on DB node. However in R12 we are free to run on any node. What are the internal technical matters for which it was being recommended. Thanks in advance for your  advice!
